This question comes from Claudia, host of the Lean and Lead podcast, which is a podcast in Germany. I know I have some folks from Germany in the audience, so please go check out her podcast if that's you. Claudia goes on to say that she just had her first guest for an interview on her podcast and she's wondering if she should use episode specific artwork with the guest's photo on it. Congrats on your first interview, Claudia. So let's begin by clearly defining what episode artwork is. So this is a graphic image that is for a specific podcast episode. It represents just that one episode.

So it's different from your main podcast cover art, which is kind of your podcast's logo. The image that appears on on your show's listing and stays the same across every episode. Episode artwork will show with that specific episode in the podcast. Players that support episode Artwork it's important to know not all players support episode artwork, but also, and perhaps more importantly, it can also be used to market the episode on social media. You do have to be careful with the sizing though. Episode artwork has to be perfectly square, so if you also want to use it on social media, you may need to resize it. Using episode artwork is 100% a personal preference. If you enjoy design or you've got a great system in place for quickly creating graphics and it adds joy or polish, go for can be a great way to spotlight a guest and make your promotional content stand out.

But if you don't enjoy making graphics or it's just kind of clogging up the workflow, just skip it. You're not missing out on anything major. Episode artwork is nice to have, but it's absolutely not required in order to grow your podcast, to get eng or to have success. I do episode artwork for a couple of my clients, but I don't create graphics for my own show. It's just not a priority for me. If creating episode artworks helps you promote your show better or you genuinely enjoy doing it, then that's great. Go for it. If it's just another task on your to do list that is Taking time away from recording, editing, or other marketing activities, these this is your permission to let it go.
