Welcome to Podcasting for solopreneurs and FAQ Friday, where I answer a podcasting question in five minutes or less. Today's question is what's the process to get on Apple and Spotify? This question was posted by Cassandra in a Facebook group that I'm a member of, and I thought it was a good one to answer here. This is something every new podcaster wonders at some point, and I totally understand that it seems like this foreign and complicated process, but it's actually quite simple. You do not have to manually add each of your podcast episodes to Apple and Spotify, thank goodness. Instead, everything starts with your podcast hosting platform. This is where your podcast lives on on the Internet. There are a lot of options and I've done episodes on this before, so feel free to scroll through my back catalog. But I'll quickly say that I host my podcast with buzzsprout.
They are my favorite hosting platform and you can save $20 if you sign up with my affiliate link at thepodcastteacher.com buzzsprout anyway, you your hosting platform creates something called an RSS feed, which is basically the magical technology that allows Apple, Spotify and all of the other podcast apps to gather your episodes automatically. Once you have created your podcast in your hosting platform, you'll go through a one time setup process to connect your RSS feed to podcast places like Apple and Spotify. Most hosting platforms will guide you through this process with instructions, and some have even set up shortcuts so that you can do your part with just one click and then they handle the rest behind the scenes. If you're in podcast Startup Academy or working with me one on one, I walk you through this process step by step with screen recordings. But even if you're diying it, your hosting platform should have instructions to help get you connected. Once the connection is established, your episodes will show up automatically in Apple and Spotify every time you publish a new one in your hosting platform. Easy peasy. If you have a podcasting question, click the Send me your question link in the episode description and I'll answer it in an upcoming episode.
Until next time, Happy Podcasting.
