Welcome to Podcasting for Solopreneurs and FAQ Friday, where I answer a podcasting question in five minutes or less. Today's question is, do I still publish an episode on holidays? This question comes from the Buzzsprout Facebook group, and I chose to answer it here because it's one that comes up a lot. Usually more around Christmas time in the winter holidays, but it does come up throughout the year as well. I am personally a big fan of consistency and of not skipping episodes. So my short answer is yes, you should still publish on holidays. Podcasts are on demand content. That means that a listener can tune in whenever it's a good time for them. So that could be on the actual day of the holiday.
You never know. But it's also likely that they might listen sometime during the week afterward. Even if you're convinced that no one is going to tune into your podcast around that holiday at all, again this is often the objection that I hear in December, remember that podcast content is evergreen. It lives on forever. If you have a strong SEO strategy and are using keywords strategically in your episode titles, someone can find that episode three months from now, a year from now, etcetera. So it doesn't really matter if someone listens on the holiday or not. And if you do not yet have your SEO strategy dialed in, this is foundational module number one inside of the podcast growth collective. You are invited to join us you can learn more at the podcastteacher.com/collective.
So in summary, yes, publish an episode on the holiday and remember that you're not just creating content for the day it's released, you're creating content for years to come. If you have a podcasting question, click the send me your question link in the episode description, and I'll answer it in an upcoming episode. Until next time, happy podcasting.
