65. Where Can I Find Background Music for My Podcast? | Podcasting Tips for Beginners

Julia Levine | Podcasting Coach (The Podcast Teacher™)

Welcome to Podcasting for solopreneurs and FAQ Friday, where I answer a common podcasting question in 5 minutes or less. Today's question is, where can I find background music for my podcast? This question comes from aspiring podcaster Anna, or maybe it's Anna. I've watched Frozen too many times, and my brain gets stuck on Anna. Anyway, thank you for being a listener. My favorite place to find music for your podcast is a website called audiojungle.net. On this site, you can search 2,000,000 plus songs from the community of musicians there. Any music that you play on your podcast needs to be appropriately licensed, or you could run into major copyright and legal problems. You need to have permission to play the music that you're using.

And when you purchase music from AudioJungle, it comes with that license, so you are covered. And don't think that buying a music with licensing needs to be expensive. You can find a song on AudioDungle for just a couple bucks, so you don't need to spend a lot of money, have a big budget. I recommend starting by typing in an emotion that you want the music to invoke when you land on Audio Jungle to start your search, and then you can use the filters on the left hand side of the site to set a price range. You can identify the tempo that you're looking for, choose whether or not the music has vocals or is just an instrumental version, and so on. You don't need background music for your podcast, but it does add a nice touch for intros, outros, and transitions. If you have a podcasting question, click the send me your question link in the episode description, and I'll answer it in an upcoming episode. Until next time.

Happy podcasting.
