63. What’s The Best Day to Release a Podcast Episode? | Podcasting Tips and Strategies
FAQ Friday answering the question of "What’s The Best Day to Release a Podcast Episode?"
This episode was produced by me, The Podcast Teacher! Contact me at Hello@ThePodcastTeacher.com.
Welcome to Podcasting for solopreneurs and FAQ Friday, where I answer a common podcasting question in 5 minutes or less. Today's question is, what's the best day to release a podcast episode? This question comes from a membership that I'm a part of, and the answer is that there's really no best day to release an episode. In general, I recommend a weekday because people's routines are usually the same Monday through Friday and then often different on the weekends. But podcasts are on demand content. Listeners fit your episodes into their routine. They don't plan their routine around your episodes. So release on a day that's good for you. That said, you can ask your listeners if they have strong preferences for or against certain days, but most of the time, you're going to get a bunch of different answers and just end up being more confused.
This is one of the rare times in podcasting that I will say to make it about you and your routine rather than your listeners, unless you get really strong feedback that a certain time just doesn't work for the majority of your audience. The most important thing about your release schedule is that it's consistent. If you tell your listeners that you're releasing an episode every Wednesday morning, you need to release an episode every Wednesday morning. If you are not consistent, you risk losing listeners and breaking trust. That's not what you want. So be sure to choose a release schedule that is sustainable for you. And if you have a podcasting question, click the send me your question link in the episode description, and I'll answer it in an upcoming episode.
Until next time. Happy podcasting.
